Robert V. Neher Award - A Global Academic Competition

The Robert V Neher Award is an academic competition designed to seek out and reward the very best in innovative packaging and technical applications in context with aluminium foil and closures.

Named after the inventor of the aluminium foil rolling process, the Robert V. Neher Award welcomes submissions from students and academia from packaging, food and technical universities worldwide.

Entry criteria

Any scientific work or research, including a bachelor, master or doctoral thesis, addressing technical, scientific or sustainable aspects of aluminium foil processing, application or use can be entered.

While aluminium foil does not have to be the main focus of the scientific work, there should be considerable reference to it.

The Jury consists of five outstanding individuals with academic and industrial backgrounds. It is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Hirsch (senior scientist at Hydro Aluminium GmbH – R&D centre). The other judges are listed below. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The previous competition was successfully held in Düsseldorf at the Aluminium 2018 exhibition. While we have not yet opened the next competition, we are not accepting any applications, submissions or acedemic research that could potentially qualify.

Please be advised that we will inform about the the dates once the next turn of competitions has opened again.
